We booked a day tour with Joao after reading about him on tripadvisor. What a wonderful experience! The islands were beautiful, we learned so much, and Joao is the perfect guide and teacher. Although the weather did not look promising when we started out, it turned into a beautiful day. The shellfish farming is fascinating, and gives one an appreciation for how hard these people work. Joao is simply one of the most charming people you could ever hope to meet in your travels, and seems to really enjoy himself. He has a unique perspective, having been a shellfish farmer himself for many years. Cannot recommend this trip enough. Fantastic lunch, as well! You will not be disappointed.

I have been out on a Sabino boat tour a few times now, usually when we have friends or family staying. Last week we were part of a group of 9 people, including parents and two little girls of 3 and 5, two French tourists, and two expat locals and a Portuguese returnee after 40 years in Northern Europe. Joao's explanation of the shellfishing industry an his now famous game of 'catch the razor shell' went down well for all age groups and the next stop was on an endless sandy beach paradise which beats the best in the Caribbean. Then off to the inlets to look at the bird life including the large stalks which usually are seen on Olhao's rooftop nests. Then off to lunch on Farol at a discounted rate as we were in a 'Sabino group' and back to Olhao. Joao's knowledge is impressive and he is such an engaging guy. He now has a second tour boat, a good sign of success, and I can not recommend his services highly enough.

We had a great afternoon with Joao on his boat. the trip is suitable for all ages. We have young kids and teenagers and they all really loved the trip to the islands. We much preferred this to the two other boat trips from Villamoura Marina which we did the past two years. It was also more reasonably priced. The boat is very comfortable and super clean. The area around the islands is stunning and Joao knows it like the back of his hand. His shares his knowledge with you in his very good English. and made the trip fun for all of us. The kids (and parents) learnt lots of interesting facts about nature in this part of the world. We would definitely repeat again next time we are in the area. thanks Joao!
